Ber months have always been my favorite. I love Christmas, but most of all I like the lower temperatures. Back when I still physically go to work, I would sometimes walk from my stop to the office which takes 10 to 15 minutes. The best time to do this is when I arrive a little before 7 so that the sun does not feel that harsh yet. During November to early February is my favorite time to do this because it is still a little windy, making the walk less exhausting and more pleasurable. These months just right before Christmas and after is what we normally call Sweater Weather here. I have been so curious ever since I heard about this scent. How does a candle jar encapsulate Sweater Weather?
Bought: via a local reseller, but the price tag is from Bath & Body Works UAE.
Packaging: translucent dark green jar. Label is on a transparent sticker with an otter clinging on to a wooden paddle. Of all the candles I own, this is my most favorite packaging!
Scent notes: Fresh Sage, Juniper Berry, Aromatic Eucalyptus, Fresh Woods with Essential oils (from Bath & Body Works website).
I don’t really know how any of those scents smell individually except for Eucalpytus. I like Eucalyptus so I went ahead to purchasing it.
First sniff — it smells a little sweet and has a minty after smell. The smell makes me think of autumn, walking in the woods in the morning, and inhaling the fresh cold air. The minty smell comes towards the end of the scent and feels like when you take a big breath of fresh air. I’m going to guess the sweet smell is the Juniper berry. It doesn’t smell tropical sweet fruit but it might be the eucalyptus blending with the sweetness.
When I lighted the candle, it took a while for the smell to spread in my tiny room. The throw is a little subtle but I like it because it’s not very overwhelming. Cold sniff and lighted is the same scent, but the minty after smell is a little bit stronger when lit. I never imagine sweet and minty to go really well but they mix together perfectly in this candle. The eucalyptus smell might seem like a weird choice but that’s what puts the windy smell in. It’s mild and not overpowering, like an after thought into the mixture.
I would call it a “cozy” candle. The kind that makes you want to curl up with your blanket and enjoy the cold air. I guess that’s where the Sweater Weather name comes from. Sweater weather to me means the cold from the rain or the -ber months and those times are usually the hardest to wake up to. All I want is to curl in bed and be a burrito in my blanket during those times.
As an international BBW customer living in a tropical country the candle’s scent is unique. My whole life, I don’t think I ever has or seen a Juniper berry. The eucalyptus notes definitely gave it that autumn/chilly wind feel similar to how the wind is like during my morning walks to work.
Similar Scents: Among other candles I own so far, no scent is similar. I also cannot think of any lotion or perfume I have ever smelled that is similar. I will update this when I think of any.
I definitely recommend this! It’s a unisex fragrance. I can’t quite place my finger on how to classify it (fruity, sweet, woodsy, etc.) the closest is probably minty but it will be on the weaker end of the scale.
